For those of you who don’t know, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel writing month and takes place in november every year. The site has a huge history and a lot of the authors you may read have participated and still do.
The idea is to write 50 thousand words over the course of thirty days in November, each day getting a target of 1667 words. There’s a tracker to see what you need to do to complete the challenge each day and at the end of it you get the self satisfaction that you just wrote the basis of a novel.
This was my first year participating and I loved it! You are meant to start a story from scratch but I’d already started one and decided to get it finished. I hadn’t planned to the end but by Saturday, my first draft was done and I’m about to embark on the editing process.
I’ve written stories, poems and plays for as long as I can remember so it’s a natural step for me to look into self publishing. With the internet being what it is, makes it easier for budding writers, how good or bad they are doesn’t seem to matter, to put out there work and share it with the world. So all being well, my first two books, yes, I’ve already completed one, should be circulating in cyberspace soon.
I just need to finish editing and find someone to design my covers.
