Happy Christmas

I obviously had a fantastic ride yesterday and most would have thought that was enough right? Two hours on a horse. No way would I ride again today? Right? Wrong! I had to ride Shadow as it is christmas. If it hadn’t been, I probably wouldn’t have forced myself to heave my bum into that saddle this morning but that horse is so special to me, I just had to ride him.

I was actually in lead file a lot of this ride today. There was only me and a small child on a little horse that often is stubborn so Shadow and I took the lead. It was his first ride out so I expected him to be a bit fresh. No, he needed waking up. So waking up he got.

He was a true gent, as he always is. And his canter was lovely, when I got it. He also remembered I was boss and got him going where I wanted as opposed to where he wanted to head.

I was just so happy riding him, despite the aching legs. I really was pleased I rode him today.

This week has been a lot of reflecting for me. First of all, whilst watching the dressage grande prix, I decided that 2013’s goal is to perform a simple, basic dressage test in our school. Just to prove to myself I can do it. I also wanted to do longer rides, well that goal was completed already, as a great surprise to me. I’m excited for 2013. Hope everyone else is to.

Thank you so much for everyone who has supported me during this journey so far. You all mean so much to me and your support is awesome.

So, wishing you and your horses all the best for Christmas and the new year.

Thanks so much again, Marie
